Who are we
We are individuals and congregations of many spiritual traditions who seek to be good neighbors to those in our midst, to nurture community and to treat each person as we wish to be treated. We are committed to extending a welcoming hand to migrants who have come to this country seeking refuge because of violence or economic hardship or to be with family who reside in the U.S. We think our communities are stronger and more resilient when we practice mutual aid and care with our neighbors.

A person who desires to make common cause with others to build community and support migrants seeking asylum or who were brought here as children or who have built a life among us? Then you have come to the right place. We welcome your skills and insights to make our community more resilient and neighborly.
ASIP Goals
Ames Sanctuary Interfaith Partners (ASIP) is a 501 (c)(3) (tax deductible) organization organized exclusively for charitable, service and advocacy purposes. The goals of ASIP are:
- To support the needs of people who are undocumented and/or asylum seeking immigrants, and their families.
- To encourage the establishment of, and support to, any and all congregations in Ames declaring the offering of sanctuary or assistance to people who are undocumented and/or asylum seeking mmigrants.
- To inform faith congregations and the broader community about the characteristics, importance, and widespread misinformation relating to people who are immigrants in general, and their families, who are undocumented and asylum seeking.
